Well the title says it all. I had a doubt in my mind which is pretty unclear regarding "How do domain extensions affect seo". Well I browsed around and found conflicting replies. So I am really confused if .com domains are the ones that google favors or it really doesnt matter what the domain extensions are like .org .net etc . Your views will be appreciated thanks !

Interesting question and I hope to see a reply. Everybody says .com is indisputable, but I suppose it's what type of traffic you're appealing to. If you want to appeal to Canadian traffic exclusively then use .ca, if you want to appeal to more international traffic use .com (if you're selling.) If you're running a non-profit organization then use .org, that's all I'm able to say, I'm not very knowledgeable on this subject though, would be nice to get input from somebody whose studied this more thoroughly.

For SEO and positioning in the search results no matter the domain extension, so be it .COM .NET .INFO .BIZ .US .PW .PE, etc what matters is the content you offer, it is quality, fresh, user-oriented and not the seeker, have good results and of course have a good SEO Onpage, I personally I forget the offpage SEO.
But Ive seen a lot of my .com extensions performing well though rather than others

Supposedly everything was supposed to have been equalized, but com has some built in "trust factors" supposedly. In general I've done best with com net/org work well too. Local cctlds seem to do well within their markets, unless designated as globals. Others seem to require a bit extra to make them competitive, possibly subjective, but experience indicates this is true.

I think .com affects branding in peoples mind so unless there is like a stellar domain name available in some other TLD, I would stay away.
My case study about domains.
I have 5 sites on .com domains 3 sites on .net domains and 6 sites on .org domains.
All of these are niche sites and some of them are exact keyword domains.
3/4 domains are not even having keywords in domain (.org) but they are still ranking on page 1 for main keyword.
Final Note - Google rankings littlebit depends on exact domain and it doesnt matters weather it is .com, .net or .org
quality content and backlinks is the key of google rankings.
Now its upto you which one to choose....

.co are garbage and they cost more, stay away from them.
