How do Cryptokitties Devs make money?

I've been wondering: how do Cryptokitties, Ethercraft and other clones devs make money off their platforms?

Transaction fees (keeping some gas to themselves), early adoption (buying the first ever kitties) or something like that?

I'd say transaction fees, since they work like kitty exchanges.
