    Hey Guys

Im in the middle of buying a website that has some good search engine rankings, the site is on 3dcart dot com and the guy was paying $30 a month. Im not going to be paying that as i will be going for a free cart or a one time fee cart. How do i go about keeping the google rankings for the pages that bring me in traffic ? as the traffic to the site is all from the search engines and i want keep the rankings of course.

    Any advice would be great

    Cheers

You need to 301 redirect any ranking pages that get moved to new URLs as a result of migrating shopping carts. Make a spreadsheet of all your indexed pages in google so you can track the migration carefully. Crappy free shopping carts might not give you good SEO optimized keywords, remember you get what you pay for. Free is great for those that don't value their own time or don't need to have someone they can call when they need support.

Thanks for the reply il look into this now, the cart thats with the site is a rip off, i can buy a shopping theme and do great SEO in the back end of WP and also host the site instead of paying another hosting bill because of this cart.

    Cheers

    Chris

You need to consider other things too. If you are familiar with your free cart system, you should go for it. But if customer face problem with buying, you may loose your money and regular customer too.
