How do AI SEO tools work? Using GPT4 - and - scraping?

I'm doing a lot of experimenting with AI content - and yes, YMMV with it - but I was wondering, do the tools scrape search results like PAA for the content or is it 100% GTP4?

Just curious to understand how these tools are getting their content

I doubt the commercial GPT-based tools (sadly no GPT4 yet!) do any SERP scraping, they'll have just fine tuned their datasets to write content with a variety of different structures. Nothing you can't do yourself with OpenAI API access plus some time and basic programming knowledge.

The AI that I am using has the option to analyze top google results for your keyword, rephrase the headings and compare word count, headings, pictures, and links.
Although that's not a 1 click generate article solution, could very well be in the future
