How do Affiliate Networks find offers?

This is one thing I've been curious about. Lets say I were to create an affiliate network (which apparently isn't that hard if you have HasOffers, though running it is a completely different kind of beast), how does one even find the offers in the first place? I don't mean joining other affiliate networks and pushing their offers on yours either. I mean, how does one go about getting offers for themselves on their affiliate network?

Really? You reach out to companies and use your contacts.
You make your platform more efficient and competitively priced.
You attract affiliates with attractive levels of compensation and provide tools to help them.
 
I see new affiliate networks pop in and out of existence daily. Some obviously run by amateurs. I'm just having trouble believing that amateurs are actually reaching out to companies and getting somewhere with it. If that's the only way then I guess that's that. And the rest of your post is kinda irrelevant, lol.
 
Most just broker offers from other networks. Very few are actually direct. Anyone can start a network, broker offers...and then fail. You need millions of dollars in liquid cash to make it, and that is why you see them come and go daily.

Those amateur networks don't usually last long and are usually started by people who have had a little success sending traffic to an offer and then want to join the big boys lol
Some don't even have genuine offers, they sign up noobs to promote offers from other aff networks, and split the commission with them.

Approaching companies is no big deal if you can prove you have/can generate the traffic.
 
I dunno about millions, but you are right in that you do need a lot of cash at hand. I figured most just broker offers, but that doesn't sound like a very profitable way to start your own affiliate network, lol. That's why I'm curious about the direct approach. I guess it is just a matter of directly approaching companies though. I'd just like a little more to go off of than that though.

Yeah, I suppose that is all there is to do then. It makes sense. Thanks for the insight. Approach companies to begin with, then when you've made a name for yourself, companies approach you.

You need to have a lot of liquidity as when merchants fail to pay you, you still need to pay your affiliates. If you don't have cash to cover this, you'll go bankrupt just as Ryan Eagle and quite a few others did.
