How did you learn web designing?

By just doing it. Web design isn't something you can learn from just reading or watching YouTube videos. You have to just do it. Your first designs might not be very good, but you get better and better over time. It's a hands-on skill.

You can learn it by seeing YouTube video, reading book or any online course. It totally depend on your focus. If you very serious to learn about it, so you can achieve this skill very easily.

Long time ago I was building out corporate websites for a large telecom concern.
Totally agree. Almost anything can be found online nowadays and YouTube is really a great platform to learn stuff. But as you mentioned, it is important to apply/practice the skill.
Did you use a laptop with specific specs / higher specs when you were learning?

Curious as to why you regret taking the course? Was it because most of them were things you could also learn through self-study?

Failed uni? Why?
I failed basic school as pathology was rough here. Mental health was eaten basically.
I think of doing uni as there's no computer science understanding on my side.
I only learned all self taught by marketing stuff.
Only projects including automation are interesting for me. The rest I think is office like job. Boring and mundane.
I want to break rules and increase potential with code. Not limit myself.
If I was to work at a company, I'd look at cloud architect and backend roles.
I feel like maintaining infrastructure and building it is good. And it's the biggest value.

I started as a VB Developer for professional reasons from uni then changed countries and began trvaelling.
Learned HTML/CSS through a PDF I downloaded. Then PHP. Then wordpress to quickly make landing pages.
Now I still learn new stuff mostly frontend related through Youtube.
The best you can do is practice

In 5 years I built only 1 thing that did matter for me. So... It's a rabbit hole. Be careful. You can literally waste your life. Look up "Terry Davis".

First i started as UI/UX designer after than i learn base level HTML CSS after than i become expert in Wordpress Elementor no-code builder things. You can learn everything easily but you have to embrace & be productive consistency and self development is the key of this matter. You have to improve yourself every year and always .

You can't do web dev, backend, frontend, automation, data science, machine learning, math heavy approach, code heavy approach, outsourcing / entrepreneurial approach at once.
Only 1 niche and 1 project at a time. Make sure you won't regret it by first doing tests like "selling before coding".
If you need something special like an algorithm, find it online or hire someone from cheap country. Don't force yourself to learn everything. Stay smart about it.
You have only one mental health.
Don't do these crash courses non stop to apply new stuff forever. Just outsource and don't lift your ego by how many stacks you can do, and seeing how similar they are...
Simpler and repetitive stuff is easier on your health. So it's more sustainable long term. Don't burn out before you make bucks...
For now I'll look for an offline job. Tomorrow another interview. Not code related.

Amen brother.
As a User interface designer at least I know the basics of my industry needs so i can find suitable devs and designers for my projects. You don't have to expertise each of them one by one.

I appreciate every developer's work because there are always new types of technologies (e.g., migration to the cloud, etc.).
It is the same with web design, new tools - requirements, and many things to learn!
The "Issue" is that without working experience, you might struggle to get on that level as others who learned it from scratch (University, etc.)
As someone mentioned here, It could easily be a waste of time. I don't want to demotivate you. I always prefer to learn new things because It's a kind of lifelong learning! At least for me.
But with the number of pretty good web designers, monetizing this skill "fast will be hard."
