I’m trying to build a YT channel organically with Google Ads in the programming tutorials / software engineer lifestyle niche. There’s a few channels that I’ve been looking at for inspiration, but I’ve noticed that they all exploded from low subs and views to 50-200k subs and lots of views out of nowhere.

Notice that this guy has less than 50 videos uploaded, but a couple “day in the life” videos went randomly viral.

Lastly this guy, seems a little more legit but still you can tell there is a distinct point where he suddenly got big.
I guess what I’m wondering is: do you think there’s any trick to this? These guys make high quality videos, but that isn’t always enough for someone to find success on YT. I guess it’s possible that they dumped a lot of money into Google Ads, but these guys don’t strike me as the types to have thousands of cash on hand for something like this. Is it possible that they’re using black hat methods of some sort? Or have they just figured out what the YT algorithm wants?
