Hey guys,

I have one site that consistently receives Zemanta's Related Articles links from unknown to me websites. When I go there I see my posts under related articles with nice thumbnail and link. Best of all, while the thumbnail link is nofollow, the article title seems to be ********.

I didn't pay for it and I don't use Zemanta myself. So I am wondering how did this happen?

Obviously I do not complain, but I would like to know more on how this happens (I have many websites :p ).

Does anyone know?

P.S. And by the way why d - o - f -o - l ** becomes stars? Is it like profanity here or something? lol

Hey, hope you don't mind us jumping in this thread, but I was wondering if I could help you out.

What's the blog in question? And which unknown links are inserted automatically? Which plugins have you got installed?

Please note that Zemanta has 3 different related posts plugins: Related Posts by Zemanta, WordPress Related Posts & Related Posts. All of them are WP/org plugins and are more or less identical to each other, only with minor differences in their plugin settings page.

Let me know if this is what you were looking for or if you have any other questions what-so-ever, I'm eager to help you out!

Best,
Silvo

Hi Silvo, that's not exactly what I meant. Some other sites and blogs display my posts as related posts, which is of course is a good thing. I only wonder how that happened. Usually Zemanta will display only posts from same blog and I believe they have advertising program where you can pay to get displayed on other blogs, but I didn't pay anything. So I just want to know how this happens.

Hey, glad you got back to me, appreciate it!

The thing is, our users can also check the box "Display Related Posts Recommendations on Compose Screen" in their plugin settings, which will load up a widget just below their editor, when creating new blog posts. In there, they can pick and add quality, related articles from around the web, which automatically adds their blog into our Recommendations Pool, and this means that your blog is also eligible for others to use as related posts on their blogs. (We do check all blogs for spammy, NSFW or racist content, before letting them in.)

So no advertising program, just related content to which our users can link to, in order to give their readers more in-depth view or to just recommend them some quality stuff from around the web.

Hope that cleared things up a bit, but please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any more questions!

Best,
Silvo

Hi Silvo, I haven't realized that you are Zemanta representative :)

Yes, this explains everything then and I feel honored that someone has picked my blog for this! I used Zemanta myself on other sites many months ago and didn't see this option. Awesome, great idea for us to depend less on Google.

I might as well use your paid advertising in the future.

Thank you!

Hey, yeah, I work for Zemanta — and sorry I haven't properly introduced myself in the beginning.

And do let me know if you have any more inquiries in the future, I'll gladly help! I'd love to leave you a contact email address, but the forum rules don't allow it. But I'm sure you'll be able to get in touch with me, if necessary.

Take care & have a nice rest of the day!

Best,
Silvo
