just curious, whats the origin of BHW? what was the story?
Old members please share if you know.

It has the exact same origin as the big bang. Nobody knows, and it's beyond our imagination! :)

Do you see the URL for this thread you created?

https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-did-bhw-come-to-existence.1491213/

Change the number at the end to just "1" and you've got the first BHW thread.

All joking aside, if you're asking about a more comprehensive timeline, we've never posted one publicly.

If you're curious to know what the forum was like, you can always use archive.org.

I joined in 2013, so I wasn't around in the early years of BHW. Still, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to look into creating a "BHW History" thread at some point. Maybe for the 20th anniversary of BHW in 2025.

BHW IS 19 YEARS OLD???!?
Thats as old as me!
and yes a BHW History thread will be amazing.

After reading your suggestion, some member here might take the initiative and create an unofficial history page with his research.

Interesting thread. Im also thrilled to know about this.

Maybe the founder can give us more insights :D

Emm, I believe the first first days was still building itself and gathering member.

B2B was here when I entered and Diamond Damien of course, although he wasn't the Diamond back then.

It was built as a real blackhat forum to discuss how to manipulate search engine and make bank .. then, it transformed into manipulating it legally :)

Well, people were more willing to share in the old says as the marketplace and competition wasn't as fierce. Everyone was still exploring and threads were more lean toward finding exploits in the systems to earn money.

I remember amazing thread were a memeber were earning +500k/Month exploiting google+amazon. It was the quickest thread to be moved to Jr.VIP forum.

Actually, its a good sign how the forum was different. Moving a thread for jr.Vip to prevent the exploit from getting patched was normal practice. Which tells you how powerful those threads were. I believe its over a decade since I have seen a thread moved to Jr.VIP

However, the main threads were about the most trendy tool to Rank.

Xrummer was a great hit where you can blast an empty page with thousands of backlinks and rank in span of days.

So, first google loophole was the backlinks were equal, and due to xrummer link power update became really FAST. Then, scrapebox were the new trebd abd blog comments were the most powerful links. Then Senuke which were really advanced tool. You could rank for Very Difficult keywords with it as you get many link types and auto tiers building. Senuke lived for long, then GSA Ser, but within those years google got really good at disvowing any automated content platform.

So, I believe we did really help as Grey Hat Seo'ers in Google development and the direct it has taken. It would always counter whatever we do, which also proves Science Beats Mass. They dod amazing handling their search engine.

And as you got automated tools, you needed lots of content, so spinners had great part in the discussions.

Super spun articles were being sold in the marketplace for good money and people would go really crazy with their senuke pyramids and nested spun articles.

We had Page Rank for any page back then, so you would know exactly your position. All those metrics were copied from google after google made theirs private. Google keyword tool was the easiest and most informative as the hid no information. All keyword tools would just scrape from google data.

If you go a little more in the past you might find cookie stuffing and some othe darker than black subjects which were all forbidden later to save the forum from legal actions I believe.

B2B was a normal member back then, and he was the oldest and the most hardworking in the forum. He couldn't uderstand the black tricks wizardly things, but he made it up with sheer work. He would simply post a thread about his +3000 posts authority website which he wrote himself over span of months!!!

btw, it wasn't easier to rank as many of newcomer like to think. Yeah, you could rank with automated tools but let me quote the minister of magic in harry potter when the london governer asked him, *You use Magic, how come you can't stop Voldmort* he replied, *The problem is he uses it as well!* ... So, everyone had the same tools, so it wasn't that easy as you might think.

However, it was definitely Cheaper! A lot Cheaper compared to now.

I am not sure how long this post should be, so I will leave it here, and I know we have many old members here who can add more

I think i am in one of the oldest active member list. :D

don't know how it started but I can share that those were the golden days.

Internet was getting more popular day by day and Internet user numbers start raising very quickly.

doing SEO was not that much hard, and most of the SEO/link-building work was done manually.

there was another very popular forum called DP (digital point), which was more famous then bhw those days, but because of bad moderation, BHW get more popular, and with time, many things changed, and many platforms come into existence, but BHW still on top for all SEO/IM professional.

That's an interesting question. I am also curious and hope to know more about this.

Whoever found this idea, must be a genius. I loved this forum when I first saw it. It does not happen a lot to me with most things in life.

I wish my register date was 2008. Even 2011 felt so late to me at the time.
