How comments ranking works?

Hello fellow BHW members!
I'm curious about how comments are ranked.

  • It is not about likes or replies; there are lots of comments with many replies and likes that are not ranked at the top.
  • It is not about account ages either; I see many accounts that were just created ( TODAY!!!) and are ranked at the top without any likes.
  • Additionally, it is not about unique content; many comments that are repeatedly spammed and copy/pasted are ranked at the top.

I'm curious about how it works, please help to figure out :)

All media use some judgement for each content. Comments, likes, dislikes are a parameter to judge about reactions. It matters.
 
This was a big update since a few years, and it has something to do with the account authority and discussion importance or the comment relevance within the discussion.

Add a bit of randomness to that, and everyone is having a hard time decipher the logic behind it.

Post comments using accounts that actively upload videos and have high number of subscribers. It helps in ranking comments.
 
It depends on a combination of factors. But if you want to rank first, you will generally need lot of likes and and comments to your own comment.

Channels created 2 days ago are still ranked in the top comments section, there are some tricks here that not everyone knows
 
Age of the channel is one ranking factor. Also the authority of the channel also matters. I have seen many big channels ranking first comment on popular videos.
 
Youtube comments try to give reach to every comments so they simultaneously re-arrange the top comments every hour and back the comments who are verified and related to the video keywords.

I agree that there are some other tricks that not everyone knows.
