You can get a refund for your domain registration, unless they've changed their policy over the last couple years.

I'm 99% sure that you can get a refund if you e-mail or call the support within 5 days of the registration. After that you don't have a right for a refund. Please make sure that you don't delete the domain before asking for refund because you won't get anything and GoDaddy gets to keep the domain parked and earn money for the full registration period!
