Hi
Over the past 6 months or so, I have been gathering as much info as possible by reading and reading and reading, lots of info on this forum and other sites. I am falling in love with SEO and marketing.
Anyways, I am starting to think that this is not something that i want to do anymore because I am having terrible headaches due to spending so much time on the computer. My eyesight has also worsened, 6 months ago I could see the clock next to my bed when I woke up in the morning, today i cannot.

how do you guys spend so much time on the computer? or maybe you dont? maybe you are more efficient than me and you only spend a couple of hours a day? or maybe you outsource?

I work a full time 9-5 job on a computer all day, then I come home, and work 6-10pm every day on the computer. Yes, my eyes hurt, but I really enjoy it. Feels good man.

Coffee with tons of caffeine and a bit o' dedication.

Been sitting on computer all day for last 11 years. Theres nothing much else to do here on spare time. I don't really understand those who just hang out at the mall and speak shit and so on ... each of their own tho

Oh also. At home you can listen to music you want and visit the fridge when ever you feel so. Also drink much lemonade you want and take a leak every 5 min if you feel so :D

With most of friends they don't play any music at their home and we often just speak some random shit or drink or do some other subtances.

I never had ANY vision issue until I started using a computer. You should get a thorough eye check up. If you have astigmatism, it can actually come out with computer use. Get a checkup. Glasses or computer glasses should be able to help. No shame in that, either. In fact if glasses can help you then can also prevent more stress on the eyeballs because you're not constantly trying to compensate. Our eyes are NOT made for these machines.

Here is some info about astigmatism http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/astigmatism.htm - and I am not assuming you have it of course. Just rule out all possibilities.

Again, get thee to a good eye exam

just take breaks every once in a while.
get a better monitor. turn down the brightness.
do some googling on proper ergonomics for a computer workstation.

if you're not doing IM, then you'd just being doing something else for 8 hours straight every day anyway.
and it would probably suck :P

I spend a lot of time behind my computer and used to have eye problems and headaches too until I went to see an eye doctor. She did a thorough eye exam, I had to wear glasses for a short period of time (about 3 - 4 months). She also gave me some information on proper monitor adjustments, room lighting and to take frequent breaks. Believe it or not there are eye exercises you can do.

I recommend you see an eye doctor too. You'll be glad that you did.

Edit: I forgot to mention that there's an eye lubricant called Refresh Plus or Systane Ultra. If you have dry eyes or your eyes
get irritated sometimes, give one these a try. It's not cheap but it works. Whatever you do, don't use Visine.

Great advice ... :) very true and very important

try following the 20 20 20 rule[after spending 20 minutes in front of the pc,look 20 feet away for 20 seconds] from now on.it could be of some help.

Eat more carrots... or get more beta-carotene in your diet. It's food for your eyes. Also another good helper for the eyes is Astaxanthin.

I am looking at a screen pretty much any time of the day, and my eyes are perfect with no issues. :)

if you love the outdoors, you can always become a farmer ;)

As a content writer, I spend well over 15 hours in front of the computer day in and day out. Sometimes, my eyes hurt. But, I know that I will recover after a short rest.

Studies have shown that when you look at the computer monitor, there is a natural tendency toward a reduced blink rate. The less you blink, the more likely you are to experience dry eye symptoms of burning, irritation etc.

Our normal blink rate averages 12 times per minute. Computer users usually blink 5 times per minute. When you're sitting in front of a computer screen, be more conscious of keeping your eyelids moving. Blinking your eyes really does serve an important purpose.

You can help yourself out by positioning yourself at the correct distance, illuminating the screen properly (dull it in the dark, not sure about what you do in the light), and there are apparently even some glasses that make it less hard on your eyes. I'm still young enough that I don't really notice it.

15 hours a day??you gotta be kidding me.hope you are using an ergonomic chair

Go to ebay and search for ef200lb 3 m, I have bought it and never regret, it's so good, it filters out 99% radiation.

Just buy it, I have done lots of research alredy and this is the best thing you will want.

Hope it helps your eyes.

you just get adapted to all the eye-pain. The only problem that I have is that your perception of time changes when you are a whole day behind the pc.

No, I don't use an ergonomic chair. Actually, I work on my laptop in my bed. This has been by daily routine for a long period, so I don't find it a big deal.

Actually, I am forced to lead such a life due to some wrong decisions made in the past. I am in huge debts and I am gathering money bit by bit to keep in pace with my mortgages and other expenses. Also, I have increased by content writing rates lately, which is helping me save some money. Hopefully, I will be able to lead a debt-free life in the next 6 months or so.

Seriously, I want to know how it feels to be completely debt free. It's been 8 long years since I have been troubled with debts :)
