Ok, I am going crazy here!
I try and try and build the best available links for my 3 years old domain, and I see this 5month old website with only 10 backlinks (all of them just from submissions to local online directories) hitting #2 for the same keyword I try to rank!

How can this happen? Is anyone interested to pm him the url and give me a possible explanation?

PM me link and keyword

Op,

I know you may be desperate for some answers but just be cautious about the information you give out.

You don't need to give anyone keywords or URLs for that matter for them to give you advice.

Make sure you look into good SEO and what it entails. There's a Basic SEO Bootcamp course and an Advanced SEO Bootcamp course laying around here.

Go through them and make sure you're doing things right. Just by going through them alone you'll know more than a lot of members here that just spit things out.

Good luck.

sn0rt, thank you for the advice.I have looked into good SEO and thats why my website ranks well, I made this thread to hear opinions about some factors I may not be familiar with.

PMs sent to people interested.
lietuvis002, thank you for the comment, but as I mentioned the 10 backlinks are from submissions to free directories like "addyourlinkforfree.com" etc

Ok am I going crazy here or do I keep seeing the same old threads. Backlinks are not the be all and end all of SEO. Instead of making the same old thread which keep appearing, spend your time investigating further.

That's a fair enough comment depending on the niche. 10 backlinks for any site is pretty minimal.

Go on. Im bored send me over the links and ill give you my opinion.

So that's the game plan?
Plan is to help op if i can.

@OP
You keyword is xxx yyy
first domain is xxxyyy.zz
domain you are talking about is xxx-yyy.zz - nearly emd and that may be a reason. Sometimes emd domains rank with only few backlinks.

Check backlinks for all top 10. Domains from top 10 dont have more than 100 reffering domains according to majesticseo. Its not hard KW. You can do it ;)

Yep. The dead end questions, the "What is the top ___ ___", and the never ending "Is ___ dead?" threads.

OP, they probably do a lot of Web 2.0. Google tells people themselves "Quality, not quantity".

A lot of web 2.0 links don't show up in backlink checking tools for quite some time. He could be building a lot of those, but you just can't see them yet.

happens only if these once aren't "strong enought" means they are not tiered or such.

Op : Send me a pm of the URL I'll analyse it and tell you what's going on.

Yeah we need the URL. Impossible to know why unless we can look into the backlinks, the social status, etc.

If the links are truly from free directories, then the site probably has a strong social presence since those links won't do much.

Pm me the url I also want to see it how can it happen. Just pm me and I'll analyze it too.

301 redirections are very powerfull and are not showed by backlinks analytics tools maybe that the reason

What are you using to check backlinks?

A lot of backlink searchers don't account for some things like https backlinks. Anecdotally speaking, I've seen some competitors in the past that ranked super high with no visible backlinks via ahrefs etc, but manually searching I found they had super high authority backlinks from sites like Drupal.org that were ******** thatdidn't show up in any of the backlink lookups.

Do some more homework on your competitor manually to see what you are really fighting against. Nothing beats your eyes and brain in doing proper competition research.
