I suppose they have their own ago to calculate that? It easy to determine how many visits a keyword could possibly get when they rank on a certain spot on the first page and cumulatively, you could get traffic ideas by taking into account all your keywords.
I think they can measure directly on sites with their installed code.
With non-measured sites they extrapolate using numbers from measured sites.
So, site A is measured (has their code installed) - they measure traffic directly.
Site B is similar to site A, but is not measured - they extrapolate figures from site A.
So if a keyword has 10000 searches a month, they review data and maybe presume 300 will click the first PPC advert, 160 click the third advert, 3700 might click the first organic result, 2500 position two and go on a process like that
There is loads of data to show where people click these days so working out an algorithm isn’t that hard, it’s not 100% but it’s better than nothing
