Hello,

I continuously monitor information on the topic in BHW, but don't see any answers.
But some people are buying and selling Chrome Extensions.

How can I monetise my Chrome Extension that collects user data and can change any of content on the page?

Any examples of what is being bought and sold in the extensions market?

come on, just search examples on BHW!

of course, nobody show what is being sold or bought

The post at the link you shared has lots of blank spaces. For example, it's told there that I can use ads in extensions.
Here at BHW there is a topic about monetising with ads, but no helpful answers. No spotted ad networks who work with such kind of traffic. Just some self-promo of data brokers (looking promising though).

Also I've seen PPI and other services, where people demand for increasing rating/installs etc for theirs' extensions.
So, definitely some market is here, but no-one shares any success/fail stories about it, and I just want to know how others are making money with Chrome Extensions they have.

Also, I've done some research at my own.

One of my AdSense website periodically shows click-bait type ads passing the user to some simple landing page that offers some general purpose chrome extension like 'zip extractor', 'package tracker', 'doc template finder', 'a-to-z manuals' and so on.

I downloaded and extracted one of these extensions and looked inside.

There I found some adware/malware stuff:
1) the new tab of user who installed the extension changes to somewhat Ask.com (unluckily, you can't easily join their affiliate network)
2) the extension works in background and changes links originally referring to Amazon, Booking etc. into corresponding referal links of the owner/partner who owns Extension in store; also, probably some cookie stuffing may apply
3) every extension has a breach allowing to watch what's user doing in front of his laptop
4) additionally every extension I've tried, have some code, allowing to load the code for some of its parts from server-side, probably for making some advanced cloaking or turning user's browser into click-farm
5) as I said above, it changes the SERP for user search queries.

Making money from link cloaking/cookie stuffing is okay, but IDK and want to know:
1) how every other part makes money out of this? what are actual volumes/metrics for such stuff? (some of extensions have been promoted for years, Chrome WebStore shows millions of installs)
2) does exist any white hat method to monetise extensions, traffic from them without all those weird stuffing?

Thanks in advance for detailed answers.
I really need them, because I'm out of job for now, and need some money just to buy foods for me and for my mom.
