Using different blockchains has always been hard for both users and developers. Some projects have tried to fix this, but there are still problems with speed, ease of use, and how things work together.

Now there's a new project called Skate by Range Protocol trying to help. Here’s a quick summary:

Skate makes it easier to use apps across different blockchains. Normally, blockchains like Ethereum and Avalanche don’t work well together. You have to switch networks or move your tokens, which is a hassle. Skate builds one simple layer where apps can connect to many blockchains without needing bridges or extra steps. You could use an app on Solana, and it still talks to Ethereum.

For users, this means no more switching wallets or networks. With SkatePark, you can find apps, link your wallet, and earn rewards called “Ollies” just for joining in.

For developers, Skate takes care of the hard cross-chain stuff, so one app can work on many blockchains. It also has Skate AMM, which lets people add money on any chain and earn fees from trades across all chains.

It’s built as a Layer 2 on Ethereum and uses EigenLayer for extra security. The goal is to make Web3 feel simple and connected—like one big network.

It sounds good, but keeping it working long-term could be tricky. Anyway, it’s the weekend and I thought I’d share this. Let’s talk about ways to really fix cross-chain problems in Web3

I feel like congestion in the crypto space is the main issue, if you’re in this space for a while you’ll notice that 99% of these stand-alone chains bring nothing new to the table.

In the end after trying many different chains, I’ve ended up solely using the top ones like ETH, LTC, SOL & BTC and 99/100 times that’ll be all you need to make payments/purchases.

I'm a bit confused about something. If I'm developing a smart contract on, let's say, Ethereum, how does Skate integrate it with Solana? Or do I need to launch the smart contract specifically for Skate?

If this project acts as a second layer for Ethereum, how does it interact with Solana?

Your right. No innovation just recycling. At the end of the day, only the OG are really doing this. But I believe that's about to change though. Do some research on skate and share your views.

skate makes chains talk easy. one layer, no switching. users earn, devs chill. web3 but smooth.
