how can i tell if my AWS VPS is working

i followed jarvees instructions to get Amazons AWS using the 2012 RS thing but IE wasnt working and i had to change all the settings which wasnt that hard but it was tedious and they made me verift my instagram accounts but i never got any emails. So i decided to download the 2016 version and it works so much better. Come on think about it, if were in 2018 then why the hell would i download and run a desktop from 2012 . 2016 looks much more similar to the one i use myself. My question is, If i have my VPS and AWS setup and all that, can i switch off my laptop and go to sleep or work and itll work or do i have to have my laptop opened on my VPS window thing . How would i know that its working anyway. The plan is to o OGAds content locking with jarvee + a VPS and then get proxies and get more Instagram accounts and so on and on. Thanks
