How can I stop FAKE Traffic?

Today, I noticed someone sent over 2000 hits on my website through a traffic exchange website. Is there any way I can stop it? I have AdSense advertisements on it and I don't want my account banned.

Looks like someone is trying to sabotage your shit...
I dont know how to stop it..
try to block traffic from that specific referral ( you can see it in analytics)

I blocked it in .htaccess file, that's it?
 
Yeah .htaccess will work pretty good... keep checking the referral and keep adding it :)
 
yeah, block them. Maybe it your competitors, playing dirty games. you got to find it who.lol
 
Get IPs and whois the domains. If you can see that they come from the same C-class or B-class you can ban that entirely. Most likely it is just someone with a rented VPS and a few blocks of IPs that's hitting your site.
 
I put this in my .htaccess file :

Deny from 69.175.85.106

however, I am STILL getting traffic from that website...what should I do?
This is getting annoying...and the risk that I'm gonna get slapped by Google is getting increased more and more.
 
Use cloudflare for blocking bot traffic totally. I have seen it working in past (though cloudflare has it it's own disadvantages).

Alright, thanks! As you already suggested to me, I started using CloudFlare and it's working good. I'm gonna go there and check what I can do...hopefully I stop this mess.
 
Ok :)
Go to settings and make sure that you have the security profile set to atleast medium.

It is at medium and I blocked the website.
But I still get visits from it...1-2k every day.
 
Remove adsense from your site...this traffic wont last long...
At least look at good side of it...it will do good on your alexa ranking.
Once the traffic stops, put adsense back
Voila
 
Email the admins of that website and see if they can remove your website

Should I remove AdSense from the whole website? That traffic I get targets my homepage (I have no AdSense on it right now) and bounce rate is 100%...of course. Can it do any harm to my other pages with AdSense?

Yes remove it completely.
I dont know about other pages, but i would not risk my account.
few days without it wont do any bad for you..
Like i said before...that sabotage campaign wont last forever.
Check your alexa every day...and at the end you will have win :)
Put adsense back once the traffic stops(wait 1-2 days to be sure it wont come back)

Yeah, my Alexa rank is doing well. Even before I started getting this bot traffic I was moving up quickly. Now after 70 days, my website is just 2000 positions away from the Top 100k!

And thanks for your help and advice, I'll remove AdSense from my website completely! It doesn't let me to rep you up because I've done it recently so I can only "Thank" :D
