Question - I have two pages (somewhat similar), for sake of argument, lets say:

domain.com/best-new-york-dentist/ (Rank 45)
domain.com/best-nyc-dentist/ (Rank 53)

So let's say I have these two pages made, and we're targeting "best new york city dentist". Let's say we want to somehow redirect the link juice from /best-nyc-dentist/ to /best-new-york-dentist/ page, is this possible? If we did a 301 redirect, that wouldn't do it would it? Anyone have experience in doing this?

I'm trying to rank the 53 one... But the 45 one is a few places ahead. Confusing, I know - but this is what im trying to do...

I don't see why a 301 wouldn't work but I know many people recommend the use of a canonical link.

I am guessing google will not give you much of a boost in the serps for it but report back either way please!

What I did, was a 301 redirect on the one where I rank 45. I redirected this to the one im ranked 53. This is the page I want. So I'll update and see how things go. Maybe google sees me trying to rank two links, on the same domain and isn't having it - so one was taken down, and redirected that link to the other. Hopefully this help.s

If you redirect it I think it will make your traffic go down aleast mine did. But to do it you need to make one of them the sub domain and direct the thur your webhost it's easy
