I am not a developer... but i have hired a developer and created a vpn app with private browser for privacy.. Now i want to get atleast 100k downloads for it.. Can anyone tell me is there any free promotion ideas for apps?
 
Advertise on BHW
Make VPN official website and articles about VPN and benefits...
Best promotion is free promotion..Youtube and Google Ranking..i want to say you just be focus on long path with everythin you doing. Good luck !

Share your app on targeted social media section like Facebook group.
 
Reddit, Facebook, and Twitter all have tech followings that you can tune into to promote your app.

Reddit has tech & app development subreddits where you can casually (don’t overdue it or they’ll ban you) promote your app.

Twitter has hashtags that you can tweet at multiple times per day.

Facebook has both groups & pages regarding tech, techies, and app devs that you can lightly promote to.

it just takes a little finesse.
 
Lots of methods to promote your app for free (Google "how to promote an app for free"). However nothing beats paid promotion using Google Ads app promotion campaigns, if you want to accomplish maximum downloads in the minimum possible time.
 
  • Make a promotion offerening something for free on r/androidapps or discounted on r/googleplaydeals on Reddit.
    • For androidapps, create a ad-free version or lock some features and give away codes for ad-free and other upgrades.
    • For googleplaydeals, I've seen people raise the price and post a discounted price.
  • Search for sites that list apps on sale and ask them to post your app.
  • App giveaway pages (unlock some features or ad-free)
 
Spam Instagram comments you’ll get some downloads not a lot though I used to do it when promoting someone’s app for them, every 20ish comments I would get 1-3 downloads :)
 
give them something free to encourage users to use, nothing better than a promo code for new users
 
Spam YouTube comment section in videos about vpn and private browsing and porn access.


On the side note: you have money to hire developers but not wanting to use advertising.
 
Spam using bots could be a good idea but you won't be find quality leads.
