Hey everyone,

I’ve been using Pinterest for a while and love the platform, but I’m curious about how to monetize it. Has anyone here successfully made money with Pinterest? If so, what strategies did you use? Any tips for someone just starting out?

I’m particularly interested in:
  • Affiliate marketing
  • Selling products or services
  • Using Pinterest for driving traffic to a blog or website
Would love to hear your experiences and advice!

You can make money from pinterest the same way you do with other traffic sources. It all boils down to the same, affiliate sales, display ads or sale of your own products.

The key thing is to be in a niche pinterest users are interested in. Most niches women are overwhelmingly interested in like fashion, food and recipe, entertainment gist, travel, DIY crafts. You could research the platform more.

When I did something with Pinterest I mostly monetize with display ads and affiliate links on my blog. But most income came from display ads.

If you get the niche right and are lucky to have your pins go viral, you can make something nice.

There isn't an exact formula for making pins go viral, it's more likely throwing a lot of things at the wall hoping some stick, with Pinterest, long as you're in the right niche and cover a topic people are highly interested, some would eventually stick and drive some traffic.

Can anyone explain to me how to make money on pinterest, whether the money comes from number of traffic visitor or where it comes from?
 
Pinterest is not paying you. It's just an ordinary platform where you can share social media. It's the same logic as sharing on Twitter. There's not much difference. People are trying to drive traffic to their sites. This is something you can try on any platform.

I don't fully support this, you can make money by sharing pins with affiliate links to products. When users click through and make a purchase, you earn a commission and you can also earn by selling products.
 
Whatever you choose to do, keep in mind that Pinterest is mainly a women's interest SM platform.
 
Send your traffic to a good blog post with affiliate links. This can work really well.
 
The most reliable strategy is just to drive traffic to your website, and then try to make sales from there

The most popular way to earn on the website is just pure ads. Especially in AI home decor niches, when it's like "100 kitchens", and then after each image you see an ad and they earn a lot haha

There are detailed tutorials kn this forum on how you can drive traffic from pinterest to own site. Use search option to find those.

I have 800k followers on Pinterest and affiliate never really worked for me. I just always worked with brands and rented out my boards and promoted their content on my accounts - linking to their sites directly.

That sounds great. Could you please share some more info with us? Like what kind of brands, from which country and how much you asked for on what terms? I understand if you don't want to be too specific to create competition :) but I would really appreciate if you would give me/us a little insight.

I worked with some large companies in the US in the health and active-wear space. I was paid a retainer between 5-10k a month for the Pinterest promotion as well as the use of some of my boards. :)

Create some basic t-shirts on teespring, create a website to promote them and send traffic from Pinterest to the website. People will buy and you will profit.
