How can I make a Frontpage like this on WordPress ?

Hi Guys,
I am familiar with wordpress and i have created 4 sites in the past. I wanted to create a frontpage like this but don't know how to create the posts grid on frontpage. Please someone guide me through the right direction?

The owner is using this Wordpress theme:

and he has modified that base theme, but imo, he has screwed it up a lot. I think that with just little modification, css chiefly, you can create a lot better site out of it.

Thank you for your reply and for providing the link of the theme.

I have installed the wordpress and the theme but i am unable to make the boxes on the frontpage. Do i have to use a plugin to do that?

If your uncomfortable editing the theme. Use something like this,

Not used it myself but id imagine easily customisable using widgets.
