Best way is to read, take action, come back and read some more. Repeat.

    Black Hat SEO: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f28-black-hat-seo/
    White Hat SEO: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f30-white-hat-seo/

When I first started, I was reading so much that I started dreaming about SEO.

I've never really found e-books or courses to be useful. The best info and ideas were all from this forum. Gotta be careful of all the bs though. 80% of the info here is crap, but there are some really good stuff too (I personally learned the most by following some reputable members here and reading through just about all their old posts. To get started, check out the old posts from phpbuilt and Scritty). The only way to find it is to read, and test it for yourself.

Find a niche that isn't saturated, and then check the white hat section first to learn on-page SEO. It'll cover choosing domain names and how to structure your inner URL's, to keyword density and choosing how to hyper link.

Don't expect to reach #1 in the SERP's any time soon or you'll get disgruntled when you face the reality of SEO.

As above, do your research and just DO IT. You'll learn what works and what doesn't, and quite frankly with the ever changing face of the beast, what may work not won't in the future, so it's best to do comprehensive research and act fast.

This thread is quiet acceptable to me as I was in search of similar answers. The 2 links shared above for BHS & WHS are really useful to me. Though I have seen it little before, was just going through some of the threads, still reading to learn.

Hope that helps me as well to the thread owner here.

If you read through the left navigation, you'll find more links as well.
