How can I learn sales?

Have you met those salespeople? Crazy charismatic. They say all the right things to make you feel better and make the purchase.

I never forget this guy who was trying to sell me something. I know I didn't want to buy that shit. But damn - if I let him talk a few more minutes - id have changed my mind. I think that's a great skill to have.

Can I learn that skill? :D

Point me in the right direction (books, podcasts, courses - free or paid)

Nah.. Well, some people are. But most arent'. That's a good way to dismiss their hard work.
I've seen people achieve so-called "gifted" things with hours and hours of work.

So I'm optimistic.
 
I learned ecommerce so I didn't have to talk to people. The more I've grown, the more I've realised how important it is to be able to communicate to people, especially if you want to run your own business.

I don't know any specefic people or courses but I watch videos by people I think are successful and see how they talk then practice that when I'm talking with people.

Start by messaging/texting then video calling. Try to find people in FB groups or whatever in your niche and just start a convo with them. See what went wrong and what you can improve on next time.

Practicing has definitely helped me.
 
When selling you are selling emotions. Per example, if you are a fan of Eminem, and the salesperson will talk to you and find out that you are fan of Eminem, he might tell you something like, back in the days, Eminem used to wear something like this, or Eminem was a big fan of this.

So What I have learnt from sales, is that you have to ask a lot of questions to the prospects and play with his emotions while selling, like it's exclusive, I only have 5 products left, or it's a limited edition.

So, my advice will be try to sale and highlight the additional values and ask questions.

My opinion is that there is nothing gifted, everything is practice.

The best sales people do not actually sell the features of the product.

They point out the benefits of having the product, so you feel like you are missing out if you don't buy it!

Make those benefits emotive and then you sell it to yourself and buy it :)
 
Go to YouTube look up “sales school wolf of wall street”, this is the actual Jordan Belfort. Yes the one that the movie was based on.

This guy is the best sales person I’ve ever seen, and I have learned more from him in 1 video than I did in my first 2-3 years I spent in business. I am serious.

And no I didn’t write this because I’m some fan boy or some kid who watched the movie and thanks I know something. The simple fact that this guy was able to sell straight bullshit stocks to very sophisticated people tells you all you need to know about his ability to sell.

The best way to learn is seek experience in those areas, also talking to them and understanding them might help - I'm sure if you go upto a dealership or similar, you'd be able to find someone who will teach you. Some people say it's gifted, but I feel you can create your own charisma - and it perhaps too is how passionate you are about the product you are trying to sell. Goodluck!
 
People who are talented in sales, media, law, politics, CEOs often score high in personality traits which are called THE DARK TRIAD. Google it.

U cant learn that.

But sales is or should basically be evidence based social psychology.

U CAN learn that for sure.

Exactly mate. I am starting to realize it too. Having the ability to talk to people can open up lot of doors.

I think you can only excel in your personality the way that it is atm. Maybe you could become a little more positive, but if your not born a preacher man, then that's it.

Being good at your own personality and selling strengths is best, as this will win you experience, and allow you to keep improving.
 
Anything you are selling you must have adequate knownledge of your products both the good and the bad part..

I find sales skills quite impressive, but... I really dislike that man. :( He's disgusting to me and I don't respect that kind of people. Had to make myself watch the movie. And that was 2 months ago. So, took me quite a while. But hey, Chris Brown did beat up Rihanna brutally and he still has lots of fans who love his music.

So, maybe I could swallow my pride and ignore how ugly this grandpa's voice, talking and lifestyle is. There's a channel on YT called The Wolf of Wall Street, while Sales School with Jordan Belfort is a series. Were you talking about the video The First 4 Seconds of a Sale (6 minutes long) or all of them? Could be too much for me, lol. ;)
