I've been doing some freelance writing but with AC not paying shit anymore and Demand Studios declining my application i'm stuck working for penny's at textbroker. So lately I took a suggestion I found here to check job sites like craigslist and indeed for better paying jobs and it every time someone gives me a job I write the articles and never here from them again, i've done this at least 12 times with NO ONE actually paying me. All my articles have proper punctuation, spelling, and such it's not that there not well written these people are obviously just getting people to write free articles for them. So how do I make sure i'm not going to get burned because I can't exactly ask for the money before I write the article no one is going to do that.

Well the problem with those sites is people expect you to write 500 word articles for $1 because there are many foreigners that will even with shitty articles that you can spit out in 10 min your only going to make 5 or 6 bux an hour. With content mills like textbroker your at least going to make $5 for 500 words Demand pays $15 and theres other sites that pay even more but most of them your competing against hundreds of other writers and the chances you speed all that time writing the article for nothing are pretty good

Of course, to avoid getting burned, you can opt for upfront payment. However, it is almost impossible for you to get one if you haven't built your reputation yet. You may also try those sites that offer escrow payments. At the end of the day, you have to rely on your common sense. Avoid dealing with clients that have negative feedback.
