doing SEO can make you in first place, but most important have agood content of site.

My site as well as my competitor site are downloading site. so there is very less content

Try SEO optimization and quality link building (no spamming). You need to become more relevant to the search engine for it to show you in the first position. Look at what algorithms google uses to show the site in the first results of SERP and what can be applied to your website. Some things just need time, so be careful not to overdo it too. And again, be relevant and natural with your strategy, content, SEO and link-building. Best of luck!

I recommend you optimizing your site first, if you don't know how, you can hire an SEO service provider you can get all the recommendations you need for your site and also included in their packages are high quality stating links, but be careful make sure they are not spun or you may get penalized because your site may seem unnatural to Google.

Get abc.com and build quality links with abc anchor.

Build quality contextual links to gain our domain authority though it would be hard to outrank abc domains with abc.in in US google, but you can do it in In google. If you want to rank in US get com domain.

There it's no easy answer because we dont know if the competitors are brands or you are using an emd, basicly we dont know anything because you didnt provided more infos.

From different tests i've found out that certain TLD's rank better then other, usually .in domains are low quality so i dont know if this affects you.

No matter if the domain its brandname, emd or a partial, you need to buy quality backlinks, check the backlinks created by the competition and try to replicate some of they're onpage seo because in theory there "standard onpage seo" but in practice you may notice that some things work for one domain but for another you need to be less seo friendly.

I would start with good social bookmarks campaign - usually helps me. If onsite SEO is ~decent, it will come eventually as you get more and more links back from all the diigo/delicious/folkd's and stubmles
