i tried to copy my WIX website to - wordpress
but it failed

is it even possible? if so then how?

It is possible, but depends on how you do/did it.
first rip your wix site. then convert it into WordPress theme. I use genesis framework. easy and simple.
There are many tuts available online.

or hire someone, who knows what he is doing.

Hire somebody, it's much easier and will prove in the long-run more cost-effective than doing it wrong.

Just install a fresh wordpress and get a descent theme for your niche. Wix sucks

I don't think WIX supports exporting the data you put on there.
That would be completely against their business model - they make money with locking you into their platform.

Like people above suggested - don't waste time and start anew.

Yeah, but with using httrack or any other "site reaper" he will lose the ability to edit the website through a user-friendly interface like:
- wix editor or
- wordpress

He'll need to learn some HTML/CSS for that.

how much work have you done to the website. to manually just copy paste content and everything else into a wordpress blog shouldnt take any time at all.

Yup, I'd go that way too.

If you only have around ~10-20 articles posted you can port your entire site in an hour (wordpress install & config includes).

I guess wordpress is better then Wix also there are thousands of wordpress templates that are better then Wix themes. If you still want to do it you can hire a professional to do that.

---I'm also a noob and trying to edit an html website. I've cloned it with a few errors using HTTrack, but need to understand how to edit it? I've copied the code into notepad and been editing it, but I want to see if it works before trying to upload to host like Godaddy or whatever. How can I edit the html file and see the result in a web browser?

Just save the html file and double click it in explorer. Your browser can open local files as well ;)
