I would/and do use the Seomoz "keyword research tool" I find it gives me the most accurate balance of competition vs other tools. If you cant afford the Pro version just sign up for the Pro and get the 1st month Free. Its well worth it. I have a Pro account BTW

Market Samurai is good and there's instructions floating around BHW on how to get it for free.

I normally use seomoz to do the search. I think it would help out in your case.
