The cheapest out there is $9 if you want it for more than one year. Cloudflare gives at cost (means at no profit to them) domain registrations for .com domains at that price. So does AWS I believe. How can I buy cheapest .com domains?
Seems to have regular pricecheck porkbun
There is no reason to don't use a company because their renewal price is high. All domains companies give you the transfer code, so you are free to transfer to cheaper company before it expires.Incredible how aggressive these guys from Spaceship have landed. They are Namecheap, probably will be raising prices in no time
Personally I prefer to exclusively look to renewals, not to registers.
A massive hassle for me to move DNS once I'm sold into a domain company. For just the couple of bucks I save, not worthy the time I take to do the move. I can understand though, that for some sort of churn and burn purposes, going with the cheapest is preferrable. There is no reason to don't use a company because their renewal price is high.
