You can use the plugin "Broken Link Checker" if you have WP sites. You can also use Ahrefs or Screaming Frog.

You can use Screaming Frog to check/find your external links. Use the "External" tab to check the status codes (404, 503 and etc).

I had a similar problem recently so I made a small tool to do it. I changed it a bit to make it more friendly. This is a console app. It saves the bad URLs to a file called out.csv.
