How best to use our apprentice to increase rankings

We've got an apprentice here in the office who is game for doing anything Internet Marketing related. He works Monday to Friday 9 - 5, and is learning on the job.

If you had access to a tech savvy (but inexperienced) pair of hands what tasks would you set them on a daily basis to help improve rankings?

Fleshing out social media accounts.
Interacting with other social media accounts in your field.
Have them learn about about html meta tags and how it works with seo and then have them edit your sites accordingly.

Just some off the top of my head

Everything SEO related really, from manual to automated stuff with the use of software programs which you have access to. Identify key activities you would like to make a daily thing and do with their help.
