Hi everyone!

Hope we are all doing fine!

I create and edit videos. I can do 2d animation, motion graphics and all that. I have been working as a freelancer with one of the freelancing platforms. Well, as usual, the pay is usually not that good and clients are difficult to land due to massive competition on these platforms.

I have tried building website before to see if I could get organic clients but I failed. I have tried this twice and failed.

Please anyone willing to suggest to me how best I can get clients directly to buy from me? I have seen some customers who come to freelance platforms to hire us for their own clients. They end up taking the lion share of the deal. Yea, they have to. They built their own platforms and got customers.

I have also tried Instragram. I failed as well.

I sincerely do not have the budget to probably outsource these things, I had to do them my self. I am based in Africa. Sincerely, if I could get clients and make between $500 to $1k each month, I will be able to pull through many obstacles facing me here in the country.

I carefully learnt the 2d animation skill. I am learning 3d to also add to this. I can learn anything as long as it works.

Thank you.

Getting clients as a freelancer is really hard, even if you're good at marketing so don't be discouraged. It's hard 99% of people.

Is Google My Business a thing in your country? Try listing your business there with some keywords in the title for some easy leads (hopefully). Good luck!

Either you offer gigs on Fiverr or you try your best on "freelancer" & "peopleperhour";

Another route is cold emailing - https://mailshake.com/academy/ - check this, here our free tutorials on how to do cold emailing

You can make use of already popular platforms like fiverr and upwork and offer your services there.

If you read the opening post, he already said he tried that but didn't get the results he was looking for due to fierce competition and low rates.

What kind of companies were your clients so far ?

The last client I worked for is into sale of electrical materials.

I av worked for client who is into travel niche.

They have been random. Some are into fintech, some are into various services. Basically, their goal for using my service is to explain how their service work, or educate their customers how the service works, or generate sales, etc.

He needs to change his strategy and do things like buying reviews and all.

What are you doing to retain clients you have already gotten? The people that have already purchased services from you are far more likely to do business with you again.

Most of them are usually one time buyers. I have some retained though, especially the one in travel niche. So my point is how to get these time of customers who need my services regularly.

Sign up to all the main freelancing sites...
Freelancer.com
Fiverr.com
PeoplePerHour.com
Toptal (if you are very good at what you do - its for higher end freelancers)

Also think about posting on craigslist etc...
Just get your name/links out there as much as you can.

Social media is harder because of the competition I find.

It can't hurt to reach out 3 or 6 months later. Convert a one-time buyer into a two-time buyer.

You can also ask for referrals.

Not something I've looked at, but there may be call for it here if you pay for jr VIP

Also, make sure you keep an eye out for threads on BHW for people who're looking for help.

There's definitely some leads to find on this very site, you just gotta have the eye for it. Be on the lookout for leads everywhere, mate :)

U should try to coldmain or contact by other way some webdevelopers / marketing agencies that u are able to supply them your services. If u will be able to made that deal, u can get a bit stable and longterm work.

also, made website where u promote your work, projects, and some testimonials. U should be focusing on drive traffic there as well, but it should serve as your portfólio, where potential customers can instantly see What they can expect from you.

Think about someone who can supply you work ( mrkt agencies for example ), and thanks to that u earn some budget to promote your website by ads, or invest in seo.

good luck

Yep, I 2nd this advice... Become a resource for other agencies.

Also offer a referral fee to past clients... works really well

Thanks man, I need to find ways to get Marketing Agencies. You made solid points. I have considered this before sincerely, but didnt know how and where to find them. I have YouTubbe account where I show some of my works. I have linkedin as well and I constantly post my works there. Thanks for the tip.
