I'm writing text for service pages in Russian. I'm asking AI to translate it into English and correct the grammar and some of the wording. How much will Google see this, and how bad will it be for the pages themselves? Is there a chance that Google will see AI in the text and rank the pages worse, or won't index them at all?

Why are you doing translation and not direct writing?

AI content works fine if it's not easily detectable as AI aka low quality garbage.

Are you basically saying you know how to write in Russian and need AI to turn it into English?

I'm against using AI for income producing pages. Why risk it? However in your unique case you could use it
for translating original copy and then run it through sitengine.

if it's not edited google will know!

how bad will it be for the pages themselves?
google doesn't mind AI (they use it all the time when stealing people's content), but they do track the activity of your traffic. So, if the people visiting your site are displeased with your site (ie. they leave fast without clicking, or scrolling around) it's almost always because of the content (in some cases it could be because of how your site looks, or other factors like paywalls, politics, etc, but most of the time it's the content).

And when google "sees" how people interact with your site they'll either penalize, or reward (rank) your site based on these signals. So, while google doesn't really care whether or not the content is AI, you'd better make the content in such a way that appeals / caters to your users :)

yes

or won't index them at all?
also yes. Although, sometimes 100% AI content doesn't necessarily get de-indexed, it will simply not rank (which is basically the same thing :)

It's not really bad if the content is useful and reads naturally Google mostly cares about quality and user value not just whether AI helped write it Just avoid publishing raw AI text without editing because generic or low quality pages can struggle to rank

Ai written service pages are fine if they’re useful and edited properly.the problem starts when people publish generic ai content without adding real value or human touch...

I am still new to SEO, but I think using AI for translation and grammer fixes is probably okay if the content still reads naturally and helps users. From what I keep reading, Google seems more against low quality spam than normal AI assisted content.
