backlinks still matter. google leans heavy on authority/trust signals, and links are main proof. but quality > count—1 strong niche link beats 100 junk ones. ppl saying “links don’t matter” usually rely on branded big sites that rank anyway. for small/grey niches, links push u up.

No It isn't important. I Use kr websites, Jp websites, RU websites in my backlink strategy and i never have any problems.
