Hey ahrefs users,

I am an ahrefs subscriber for over 7 years already.
But I noticed that for the last few years am using maybe 2-3 features from the whole list they have. So I feel I am kinda losing some benefits and maybe am overpaying for other tools in my stack.

So I am curious how other marketers and businesses are using ahrefs, and I mean not in theory, "you can... they have this and that". I mean in practice. What do you really use frequently?

When and why do you usually go to ahrefs ? For what tools and reasons?

Depending on what you use it, it's almost the only stop for such.

My problem with Ahrefs is the huge limitations compared to other tools. For example, keyword tracking (ranktracker) with a weekly update is simply behind. Also limitations in number of queries you can issue.

But with the keyword explorer and the site explorer is just enough (although too pricey). Today I see more people switching to other alternatives than ever. Semrush for keyword explorer is plain better. For site explorer is much more difficult to find an alternative, unless you combine some (which mean a lot more time researching), like for example Moz + Majestic. If you have to puchase Semrush + Moz + Majestic the price will undoubtely go above Ahrefs in the basic plans. But if you use it massively Ahrefs always run short of everything with their current limits.

If you have not found up to now any limits with Ahrefs, stick to them.

I mostly use Ahrefs to check the Specific website details with Organic traffic, Keyword rankings, and Top pages they are ranking, and most importantly use batch analysis.

But now if want to use batch Analysis need to pay extra than before so it's bad :(

I faced limitations only with a rank tracker and keyword explorer. That's why I don't use them at all. I am on the Standart plan. But what's interesting I use maybe half of my other source quota.

Great point on Semrush & Majestic. I am using Majestic anyway, maybe give it another try to Semrush.
Doesn't Semrush have something similar to site explorer ?

I was choosing between ahrefs and Semrush and my main concern was how relevant the database is. Back then... Ahrefs was far further. Not sure how it is now. Seen some research from different bloggers. But usually, those research stands on data that tools show and don't prove check them. So those numbers don't tell you anything about the quality of this data. Nobody checks how many of the records are Duplicates, outdated records, and so on. That's weak analysis...

Keyword explorer is the main reason i use as it lists out all the keywords and then you can go down from that and look at various niches while in semrush you have to type something in keyword magic tool.

Hey, thanks for reply.
So how exactly do you find hundreds of quality link prospects in seconds?
Broken Links and Link Intersect tools? I am asking because for me, any type of link analysis and getting insiaghts, usually doesn't take seconds and ends with multiple filtering and cleaning records in spreadsheets. And as I feel Ahrefs doesn't have really powerful on getting insights. But maybe I am too spoiled.

So it's more like a database of records, the same as Majestic for example, but Majestic metrics are much better for analysis.

Use it mainly for reverse engineering sites. We are on the legacy plan, which is why we kept it.

Ahrefs is an amazing tool for SEO. I use them for all my SEO projects. Even if you only use a few features, the features you use are worth the subscription.

I've been using ahrefs' Site Explorer a lot, specifically the "Best by links" report in the "Content Explorer". I use that to find popular content that is not ranking highly yet, and then I use ahrefs' link intersect tool to see what links my competitors have that I don't.

I also use the "Site Explorer > Pages" report to check how much traffic each page gets.

I also love their "Rank Tracker" tool.

I've just started using the "Content Explorer" tool to research popular content. I also use their "Keywords Explorer" tool to find new keywords to target.

What are some of your favorite features/tools?
