How are Windows VPS sold?

I’ve only every used linux VPS. Now I need a Windows 10 VPS. Please explain to me:

1) License: I see lots of cheap VPS deals for windows. Do I have to buy a license to get it to work?

2) When you get a VPS, does it usually come with RDP enabled by default, or do I need to SSH into the box and enable it somehow?

1.Most licences that you see around are pirated windows server images. It works but don't be surprised if it suddenly does something odd like ransomware popping up.

2.No it doesn't. Tho most providers understand their market well and configure it for you out of the box.

1. If you want to install your Windows version, you need a license. Some providers offer KMS preinstalled licenses on their Windows VPS instances (most, if you are ok with the version they provide). This is why they cost a little bit more than Linux VPS generally ($5 extra on average, not much, but some guys get highly discounted licenses from untrustworthy sources for their VPS so they barely pay $1 per license, basically the same as when you go to those cheap license sites that sell $5 Windows 11 and Office 2021 licenses

2. SSH? You are not buying a dedi-server and setting your own level 1 virtualizer… You are buying the VM container itself on someone's else dedi. So you don't really have any control under what's going on in your Windows VPS instance. For you, it's like powering on your Home PC (which happens to have a Windows Server 2019 or 2022 instead of a Windows 10/11) and just inputting your credentials (in this case via RDP obviously, which happens to be the only remote software that Microsoft ships by default).

Don't worry too much, just purchase any and you will be fine.

Buy dedicated and install Virtualizor or solusv.

1. If you buy windows vps then no license.
2. RDP is enabled by default
