How are some Reddit users hiding their post and comment history?

I've been trying to figure this out for days and it's honestly driving me crazy.


Normally, you can click on someone's Reddit profile and view all their posts and comments unless their account is suspended or deleted.
But I’ve come across real, active accounts where you literally can't see any posts or comments — it just says "no posts" and "no comments" even though the user is clearly active.


I’ve searched everywhere (Reddit help, Google, YouTube, even GitHub discussions) and found no solid answers. Most people say "you can't hide your history unless you delete it" — but in these cases, the account is fine, active, and completely blank to public view.


I'm super confused. I’ll include a real example link below (not trying to witch hunt anyone, just genuinely curious about the method).


Has anyone else noticed this? Does anyone know how it's done? Is it a setting, a bug, a premium feature, a plugin, or something else?

✅1. User Has Only Posted in Private or Restricted Subreddits
If all of someone's activity is in private, quarantined, or restricted subs (e.g., r/modsupport, r/AskModerators), Reddit won’t show that activity publicly on their profile.

This can make it look like a “blank” account even if they’re posting daily.

✅ 2. User Has Shadowbanned Themselves With Filters or Custom CSS
In some cases (especially older accounts or bot-managed profiles), people can configure profile styling or third-party tools to suppress activity display — though this is mostly legacy behavior.

✅ 3. Reddit API Visibility Delay / Caching
There’s a known quirk where API-based Reddit views (RES, mobile, or scraping tools) show content delays or don’t show posts at all, especially if the user removes all upvotes, or if posts get low karma.

It’s also possible Reddit’s profile view takes longer to populate content due to new account anti-spam filters.

Some users use bots or tools (like PowerDeleteSuite or Shreddit) to automatically delete or overwrite their history while remaining active via DMs or comments in non-public subs.

probably deleted / using the HIDE button on the profile page on each comment / post

You can get the user history using API, even if it was deleted

I have tried the rool shreddit , it does hide the posts. I think may be redditors are using such type of tool. But great reply.

This is roughly the same as the one I got from chatGPT.
 
I’m guessing it's a combo of auto-deletion bots and hidden posting strategies.

I don't think it's simply hiding the posting history. If you hide it, others won't be able to see it. But in this guy's sub, there are a lot of content posted by this account. The post is not hidden, but when you enter this guy's profile, there is nothing.
 
All the comments of that user are there

any screenshot? I have tried switching accounts, switching browsers, and trying incognito mode, but I can't see any records of this profile.

What kind of sorcery is this ? I just checked on mobile app and all comments are visible but not on Web.
 
Some Reddit users hide their history by deleting old posts, using extra accounts just for posting, or setting their profiles to private. Others just avoid commenting from their main accounts.

Now the problem becomes that this user can hide all records on the web side, but on the app side, it is normal.
