From my experience and tests that I've run, reposts don't get shared to the fyp, they are only seen by your current followers, so they get much fewers views than original content. I have an account with 10k and normally videos get 1000+ views, but reposts get around 100. And on my other brand new account with like 5 followers, the same reposts get 0 views, and original content gets around 100.

I've tried stripping the repost video file of all metadata to "trick" the app into thinking it's original content, but nothing works. (these reposts are videos that have already gone viral, so the app knows this somehow.) But my question is, how are some other repost accounts getting huge views on reposted viral videos? It doesn't make sense, unless the video is still able to go viral because the account is large enough that it doesn't need to get to the fyp?

I was wondering exactly the same... the accounts with no original content works? can you repost viral videos on new account hoping that people like the content? do tik tok have any problemos with not original content if the maker of the video dosn't agree?. i see lots of accounts with not original content, and the follows likes on the videos are pretty good.... as far i can see on this side...
sorry for my bad english and thanks.

I'm currently experimenting with TikTok and on a new (but warmed up) account I posted a video (not mine but from reddit) yesterday, I added a bit of text and it got 1,5k views. However, the other two videos seem to not get that attention. So I wouldn't say that reposted content doesn't work but it could be harder to gain followers, I guess.

If it's from reddit, it's treated as original content, because it's 'new' to the platform. But there are many accounts that repost videos from tiktok, the exact same as the original tiktok.
