How are people getting Banned?

Hello,

I'm quite a long time lurker and haven't posted much. For some reason I've noticed quite a number of older (pretty decent reputation) people getting banned. Now I've read the rules and have looked into some of their post history, but can't determine what got the ban. Of course I'm asking so I don't commit the same mistakes. The reason I'm asking is because I'm only 9 posts in and already one of my threads is locked. No reason was given so don't want to go down the wrong road. Any mod that can tell me why/give me advice, I would be grateful. Thanks!

Just read the rules of BHW every morning for a week and you are good to go!! ;)

People can be banned for any number of reasons. If you are ever
worried that you might be doing something that is against BHW's
Forum Rules, you can:

1) Re-read the rules.

- OR -

2) Contact a staff member and ask for clarification/advice.

PS: By the way, I checked your post history and I see that one of
my fellow staff members deleted the thread on which you wanted
advice on how to illegally use a person's credit card to settle a
dispute you have with him. Sorry, but we do not allow activities
or discussions on illegal topics such as that on BHW.

The other thread that was deleted was done so because it was
in relation to "Occupy Wall Street", which is a political topic. We
do not allow discussions relating to Politics or Religion. The reason
is because people have strong opinions on both of those subjects
and experience has shown that those topics more often than not
ignite a "Flame War" - "Wiz"
 
Just because someone has a lot of posts or a decent reputation doesn't mean they are invulnerable to the ban hammer :D

Step on too many toes or screw up to many times and say goodbye to BHW :)

Thanks for the detailed response. The politics and religion rule is the one I was confused over. Did not see any mention of that. Thanks again!
 
Are politics somewhat allowed if it is about the marketing aspects of political campaigns?

Yes. If it is all about the marketing aspect, then yes. However, don't abuse it. If it brings up political debate or arguments about left vs right, etc.., then no. We will delete that sh*t with the swiftness and dish out infractions to those who incite that BS. There are plenty of places on the web to voice your political opinion, this is not one of them.

I made a thread about blackhatting a campaign a few months ago,just curious.
