How Accurate is SEMRush Search Data?

I am getting huge differences between SEMRush and Google. One keyword in particular which Google says gets 8,100 monthly searches SEMRUsh is reporting as getting 147 monthly searches.

Anyone have any experience with this?

SEM Rush is no good . stick to google, its the closest you can get to "accurate".

You can use a +/- 20% when using google data.

sem rush is not an accurate tool. actually there's no 100% tool existing.. We just need this tool to get the average and most likely the nearest possible result. Just compare the results of 5 tools and get their average result

The only thing I have found SEM Rush useful for is to tell me potential keywords my domain is ranking for that I had no idea of. With a Rank Checker, you have to input the keywords and it runs that way. SEM Rush gives me a more overall picture. Otherwise, useless IMHO.

A few things may explain your skewed results:

* Keyword match type. I think SEMRush is phrase match by default.
* SEMrush data is updated monthly. Google data is an average.
* SEMrush keyword stats come from Google data and other proprietary data sources.

SEMRush can be used for Adword keyword research among other things.

I tried SEMJRush for the first time in ages today and it was way out for me too. Even for a general idea of what keywords URLs were ranking for it didn't encourage me to visit again any time soon.
I hope those that pay the dosh for a subscription get much more accurate and timely results.

I pay for it and for rankings I find that its pretty useless. However its really usefull to discover new keywords by pulling reports from big authority sites. They usually rank first or second pages for long tails that they don't target but just mention in a post or on the forum. Often these keywords have EMD available over 1k searches and no competition. For that its a goldmine.

SEMRush can be unreliable sometimes, just go with google and you will be fine.

Also, make sure to check this data in other keyword tools before choosing it

for your SEO campaigns.

I've also found that when it comes to organic traffic numbers, it is wayyy off from what Google Analytics tells us.

Although to be fair, I've seen moderate/large differences between GA and webmaster tools
