How accurate is G Traffic Estimator?

Just wondering if someone here has had a lot of experience with this tool and knew the accuracy of it. Is it just a ballpark estimate or does it give accurate results? I am working on calculating a campaign, so any input would be appreciated.

Its not very accurate in terms of overall search volume. BUt you can use it to compare search terms.

Ex - cars online - 10,000 exacts used cars online gets - 5,000 exacts

The overall estimation could be completely off, but it is a good way to compare keywords to see which ones will bring you more traffic.

Yes makes sense I was mainly concerned about the cost, position, and estimated daily clicks. I am getting ready to start a huge campaign and wanted to crunch the numbers but I guess there are too many variables involved. Also I was not thinking about Quality score as well that will lower down my CPC.

You can never trust google although I use the google keyword tool religiously because there simply isn't anything better in my opinion.

I am no expert in PPC but I can tell you that you will spend a good amount of money before you get a good position and a good quality score unless you have experience

Yea I have a ton of experience with the keyword tool I use it everyday for SEO and Adwords but most of my campaigns that I run are under $500 a month. I run about $3k a month through my account but am looking at a campaign for around $2k a month for a single site so I but I needed to make sure I would get the type of traffic/position/cost I was looking for. I know my way around Adwords but never use the traffic estimator because I didn't think it was accurate. All of my ads have a quality score of 5-7 which is not amazing but gets the cost a lot lower for me. I think that my CPC has actually dropped recently due to my account age but not 100% sure. There are some SEO keywords that cost like $12 a click and I am only paying around a buck. I just need to work on fine tuning my landing pages now.
