Hi everybody I'm planning to promote myself as Internet Addiction expert.

First I planned to build a blog, but then I realized my main goals: reputation (it should make readers to ask for counseling sections) and scalable monetizing.

Platforms like Hubpages or Squidoo have a lot of traffic, while if I'd build a blog I'd have to start from zero.

I'm confused about the best solution for me: what do you think about services like Hubpages and Squidoo?

I really need some suggestions. TNX!

Those are good options

you can use blogpost and wordpress.com as well

why not create blogs on all of them and promote them simultaneously?

Are you talking about creating two blogs (blogpost and wordpress) with same content and promoting it on Hubpages and Squidoo?

Or are you talking about 4 blogs (blogspot + wordpress + hubpages + squidoo) with the same content?
I read it's a bad idea for a SEO perspective. Is it?

i am talking to create a blog on all places you mentioned with similar content, but not same content, or you can make a blog on one of the services which will be the highest quality and all unique and on rest you create supporter blogs with less quality

If you want to look like professional buy domain, install site and then create squidoo, hubpage, wp, blogger, twitter, fanpage :)... to promote your site and to be professional.

In fact the normal visitors spend not many attention on the tld. From other side the domain will be your while you want, but each other free platform can be sold together with your content, or your content can be lost.

Anyway - you says "expert" so the only option here must be your own domain from zero (in fact if you start with some free blog/platform you start from zero).

"Supporter blogs" is a very interesting idea!

I think I'll have a main high quality WP (self hosted is better?) site and Hubpages + Squidoo + Tumblr + many others as supporters, so that all the traffic is directed to the main site: you guys made me a very good suggestion!

How about monetizing? What do you suggest?
I thought about membership or a pay per post (part of the post is free, if reader wants to go deeper then he make a micro-payment), when I'll have a good traffic built.

I was just thinking this the other day when I was at work and I kept thinking about what was going on with the internet marketing world, etc. I realized, I do have a problem and a lot of other people have problems. You could probably start a group similar to AA, just write up a book and etc.

Dude...:) I agree with you. Its a great idea! OP you just follow this one with your unique content so that you could get more traffic to your site.

Congrats:)

both are best options for attaining traffic.. but make sure that your lens must be quality enough with good content

So let me know if I understand...

I create a self hosted WP blog: it will be my main site.
Then I create many supporter spaces with less quality content (should I avoid Squidoo? It's no follow, but I could get traffic from Squidoo to my main site) that "point" (links, side widgets, etc...) to my main site. I add Social Networks for better spreading the word.
In this supporter spaces I spin the less quality content.

Monetization: ebooks + a membership area where members find extra contents.

I could create a discussion Community where people discuss about IAD (Internet Addiction Disorder) and their IAD problems, but lot of people suggested to wait until I'll reach good traffic and leads.

I fear I wouldn't be able to manage blogs and community at the same time, so that I have to choose.

Anyway...how would I build the Community? Should I use Ning or similar? How would I monetize it?

Anyone actually get solid traffic from Hubpages/Squidoo? I've tried Squidoo before & there is just no traffic at all, I had all hand written content too.

Have very good articles (tricks) about squidoo on the forum. I agree that have much better places, but squido can go viral just like youtube.

For sites like twitter, facebook, tumblr, friendfeed you can use some free content syndication plugin on your blog, so no need to spend too much time for menage them. For sites like wordpress, blogger, tumblr, squidoo, hubpages you can do nothing, but post comments with the accounts for extra traffic (+ fans, followers... and some money back for spend time like from adsense, amazon...). You can subscribe to google alerts with footprints like:
- "site:blogspot.com Internet Addiction"
- "site:squidoo.com Internet Addiction"
..... this will send the best places for comment direct in box

Now I must say sorry, because all this is white hat

I beg your pardon I'm an absolute newbie: are you saying I should comment others Squidoo and Hubpages post, and that I may avoid writing my stuff in these platforms?

PS: I know this is white hat...well I could follow some near-blackhat suggetions (not extreme ones, because I must stay professional and not banned), if you have some... ;-)

you can use blogspot or facebook fan page if you want to have your own page for your business. if you succeed, then it was easier for you to transfer to web hosting

i just want to share, i had a very bad experience with squidoo publishing my article to the point that they get sooooo frustrated!

Wordpress, Blogger, and Hubpages these are best websites, Squidoo is not so good when my lense is published they delete it i write 10+ uniques articles but Squidoo always block my lenses so i thought no one is using Squidoo now a days Hubpages is also good..
