2. Go To C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and open hosts file with notepad(Run Notepad As Administrator).




3. Now paste the BELOW code just BELOW the last line of hosts file.

4. Now save it by going file> save .


5. Now INSTALL Hotspotshield and uncheck the run after installation.


6. Then go to the Target location of Hotspotshield and delete the file af_proxy_cmd.exe


7. Open Hotspotshield .


8. [Remember] (Whenever the hotspotshield is updated just go to the target location and again delete af_proxy_cmd.exe)

Why would you use one, I understand that it says private secure browsing. But in day to day life will you need it? I mean I use proxy when I need to access some site or anonymous browsing if tracking is concerned.

In our country YOUTUBE is blocked so its quiet helpful coz we can watch videos by using this tool. + Its better then proxies ( as far as I am concerned )

I think you can only use Hostpot Shield Elite vserion if you can access it's server. I'm using it so I understand that sometimes it kicks me out then it look like Free version (ads display).So in this case, we add the codes to the hosts file to prevent ads links come from it'server only.

Not work, still asking to upgrade to elite. this is same with free user. my computer running slow install this program.

Its two years since this was posted. May I ask, before going ahead and editing my hosts file, does this host file edit still work, are their any other URLs needed to be added to it? And will it work with the current downloaded version of HotSpotShield, v. 5.1.5? And if it does work with the current version, will it convert the downloaded free version into the Elite version, or do I have to somehow find the current Elite version to start with, considering it can't be downloaded from the developer without first paying? And for that matter, Windows 10 is now out -- are the instructions for that OS still the same?

And lastly, and I'm afraid this question might be dumb, but what is the target location, where is that -- will that be obvious once I install?
