hosting unrelated subdomains

is it bad to host something like cats.dogs.com vs cats.pets.com just an example either way its just another automated site to get traffic to the main site.

there is products they can buy related to the topic on the first site though..

not so much bad, as just not worth the time. cat and dogs are somewhat opposites. where cats ARE pets!

so if you had these 2 sites and I searched for 'cats'? then cats.pets.com would be more relevant (at least from the keywords in the URL). this would be even more important with Yahoo, as Yahoo is really a directory first and a search engine second (just look at the categories paths in Yahoo)
