no need for a dedi. get shared hosting and upgrade when you need to.

I am so glad I have found this site! I have been creeping bhw for some time and about to make a leap into IM. I'm starting a downloadable content website . My question(yes it is a noob question but every one of you were new at one point) is should I start with a dedi? Average size of content will be 25mb. At site launch, I expect to have 30-50 files. Should I just jump into a dedi or start small until I generate daily traffic?

try this one. i'm using it because it has a good spectrum of services and prices. support is also ok. hope this helps - hxxp://www{dot}addnethost{dot}com

Start with a vps and move up to a dedi as you need. Shared hosting providers will shut you down due to server and bandwidth resources as soon as you start gaining some popularity

I am currently using Dreamhost and they have unlimited space and bandwidth along with scale-able VPS for however much you need.

I have been using them for years and never had a problem

You will need a VPS atleast or you should be going with shared hosts which allows File sharing. Most of them doesnt. Also, you should take a note on max number of live connections allowed.
