Hey everyone this may be the wrong section but I didn't know where else to host my question. Okay some hosting websites like JustHost offer unlimited space... How is the physically possible because it seems like they wold had some kind of limit of space. Are they lying or do they have "unlimited space" hahaha just seems impossible so I figured I would ask yall?

There's lots of limits that stop you from using too much space.

Check out the link at the bottom of their page for starters.

"* Just Host's Bandwidth and Disk Usage Policy"

Hosts like hostgator offer similar packages and have similar limitations to the types of sites you're able to run. They also limit the amount of files your allowed to 250,000 I think. All shared hosts have pretty strict limits on memory and cpu usage.

The reason they can offer "unlimited space" is because you're garunteed to hit one of their other limits before that one.

Well unlimited feature in hosting is clearly an overselling argument.

It is like unlimited chips in a restaurant, it is based on an average usage ;)

It simply means there isn't any limit on how much space you can use, your not limited. Although if you start using lots of space, they'll suspend your account and then force you to upgrade to a different package. To be honest, if you need that much space (That your hosting provider is going to complain) then your probably better off with a VPS/dedicated server.

Truee that man I might eat like 10 chips max whenever I go into a restaurant.
Ahh thank you scrapefox for telling me about these "limits" I had no idea. I just figured it would be physically impossible to hit UNLIMITED hahaha

It's just a marketing ploy. They all do it, as scrapefox said, you are bound to hit one of their other limits eventually.
