hosting illegal files on shared host...

Hey guys,

I was wondering what would happend if I were to host like let's say mp3's and some software on a shared host and I get caught ? The worst that can happend is that they ask me to remove it or suspend my account right ?

If the hosting company gets a complaint or a DMCA notice from a copyright holder, they likely won't ASK you to remove it. They'll shut you down.

Even if you make your registration info private?

Meh I dont mind... but they can't sue me or any thing like that right ?

Most likely they will just ban you. I doubt anything more will happen from it as millions are hosting similar files around the web.
Just all depends on who reported it, if its a normal user reporting then they will probably just ask you to remove it and an email could get you back online again in a matter of hours.
If its the copyright holder then i guess they might want to take things a little more serious. But chances of it happening are minor. Best not hosting the mp3s on your site anyway. Unless your offshore BP hosting or similar.

not worth the risk... don't do it. will end up to be a time waste in the end.
