Hostgator: What's the verdict?

I am running the free website method and am doing alright so far. Currently I am doing a mix between providing my own hosting and using the Hostgator Affiliate program (not through CJ).

I heard some wonderful and not so wonderful things about the aff program and want to know what the verdict is for those who have experience with their program. All the people I refer purchase a yearly package up front, if that helps.

Are there any better hosting affs or should I stick with HG?

I am not actively promoting them, but I made a few 000's in the past and never had a problem with them.

I made very good money with site5 a few months ago.

And I am also using them for some of my hosting, and very satisfied for the price.

Everyone and their mom is CSing HostGator so you might lose out on a much of sales because of this.

But within a month they said they are upgrading their tracking script to a custom built one that "supposedly" will catch them.
