when I put my wordpress blog hosted on hostgator in pagespeed it says server response slow
is hostgator so bad in shared hosting?

Server config is one of the factors. Shared hosting is going to slow your site if the other sites you're sharing with get a lot of traffic quickly.
It could be your Wordpress theme is too heavy, some plugins are slowing it down, or the images need compression.
Chances are it's because you're on Hostgator shared hosting.

For the price Hostgator is a decent option. You could probably group-buy a better set-up with one or two and get a much better deal for the same price. I can only imagine how many websites are sharing the resources on many shared hosts.

check your site here. https://gtmetrix.com this will give you some things that you can do to help speed your site up. Your site could be fine it may be 100% Godaddy issue.
Max your score out if still slow look at either moving to a new host or upgrading to a VPS plan

Generally speaking VPS hosting (SSD VPS) will be always faster than shared hosting.
On the other hand hostgator (AIG) has lot of servers half of them are not with the best configurations so consider asking them to move you to another server prior changing your hosting provider.
Also check your plugins/themes if they can be optimized , most of the times plugins cause such issues

Get SiteGround, i use them and their support is tip-top and their uptime is just amazing for shared hosting.

So moved from hostgator how are the stats after move? Also could it be that when you were on hostgator you were on non ssd or ssd cached servers
and after move you are one pure ssd base servers? Storage and its arrangement can make drastic difference in the performance of the server.
