Hostgator keeps suspending my site on shared hosting due to High traffic!

I was having a website which gets visitors in a spike all in rush during certain peak hours.My site was hosted on a shared hosting.My site was disabled number of times.Now I got an email stating below

Thank you for your actions, I am enabling the account in its entirety now. Should further loading issues occur we'll have to disable it permanently and ask that you upgrade to a dedicated server to continue hosting with us. While the account is being upgraded and transferred it will remain offline or online for your IP address only until fully propagated on the dedicated server.

Can somebody recommend me what are the options for me here?
Should I get a dedicated server or a VPS as my Site gets High traffic spike during certain peak hours of the day?

How much traffic are you getting? I have my site disabled by Hostgator when traffic spikes because of some plugins like YARPP and those that generate thumbnails.

I am getting close to 3k visitors a day.Also its not the no of visitors which is causing problems.Its the high traffic spike during certain peak hours which is causing me trouble.

Change the server to a dedicated, unlimited , and the problem will be fixed, and your site will be up 100%

Set up a reseller account or move to a vps server. You might also look at moving your hosting to hostdime. Never had an issue with them.

3k a day? That's just small traffic. Spikes should not be at most 1,500 people clicking your site at the same time to get banned. Maybe you should do some tests on what is causing it. You should install WP Super Cache of course.

What type of content do you serve your visitors ? What is causing the traffic spike (videos, images etc)

I`m using site ground shared hosting... Excellent support and quickly solve high cpu usage problems.... I even have the special (without aff. link) for $9.95/year with free domain included. Just add after siteground /friends.htm .... sorry for this, but I can`t post links...yet

3000? I got 2 site each >6000 unique a day on hostgator shared hosting without problem. It was happen to me too like you, hg suspend my script 3 times, then I tweak the super cache plugin.
Do you use wordpress? I suggest using db cache reloaded combine + hyper cache, the best cache combo you'll ever see.
If you are using wp super cache, remove all reject user agent list, because when google bot spider your site, it won't cache. I let caching for any spider bot so i empty the list. Combine with db cache reloaded for mysql caching, because access mysql really make high cpu usage too.

I am getting all the traffic from youtube.Earlier when I was using Wp super cache they told me to install wp total cache.Now I donot know how to tweak this plugins.Can you please help me out on how to tweak this plugin?
Also I am not having the money to spend for a dedicated server.If its needed then can you recommend some cheap dedicated server which serves the purpose?
